We are looking for an experienced buyer / procurement manager to take responsibility for the sourcing of all UK, European and internationally sold products. The main focus is to build close partnerships with existing as well as new suppliers resulting in continually reduced costs of goods while meeting established quality standards.


Main Duties:


•  Managing new enquiries and repeat projects including prototyping, selecting suppliers, evaluating total cost of acquisition, negotiation, production/manufacturing and logistics. Planning work throughput, responding to and controlling change to ensure appropriate prioritisation of tasks.


• Understand technical drawings, and translate these into a costing document.


• Effectively manage budget of purchasing process ensuring that contracted costs are met


Present quotes in a clear and concise manner within agreed timescales, highlighting any applicable exclusions and lead time issues.


• Lead the projects to make them happen, problem solving, trouble shooting, risk assessments, offering up solutions, ensuring that they are delivered on time, within budget and to required quality levels.


• Provide advice and intelligence to Designers and Sales staff on the external processes and services we manage, in terms of availability and prevailing commercial influencers.


 


Skills and Experience


• Deeply committed to customer satisfaction while being equally committed to cost controls.


• Collaborator who brings value of thought and experience to the organization and peers.The position will be based at the head office in Bedford but will include both UK and overseas travel.


• A proven background in international planning and purchasing


• Good knowledge of current global trading conditions, freight and raw materials


• Experience in the procurement of raw materials such as wood, metal and acrylic products.


• A proven track record of success against key measurables not least, cost savings.


• Experience within a construction or manufacturing environment


• High level of commercial acumen and an ability to deliver bottom line improvement through proactive purchasing process, change management and cost control.


• Ability to multi-task.


• Strong contract management and strong negotiation skills.


• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy


• High level of client awareness and focus


• I.T literate with good working knowledge of MS Office.


• Continue to evaluate current suppliers to ensure that you have the right suppliers to grow the business.
